Lija Wendt, LLMSW
Therapist
Lija Wendt is a sex-positive therapist who is passionate about helping individuals explore and strengthen their sense of self, relationships, and sexual identity. She specializes in working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, intimacy concerns, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges, with a particular focus on LGBTQIA+ communities. Lija also has a special interest in supporting clients living with chronic pain or disability, both in how these experiences impact sexuality and daily life.
Her therapeutic style is calm, compassionate, and affirming. Drawing from a client-centered and trauma-informed perspective, Lija integrates elements of parts work, mindfulness, and narrative approaches to help clients explore their inner experiences. She believes that healing begins when people feel safe enough to connect with their own stories and discover new ways of relating to themselves and others.
Lija earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from Saginaw Valley State University. Her clinical training has included work in outpatient settings where she has supported individuals with diverse needs and backgrounds.
She especially enjoys working with clients who feel disconnected from themselves or their relationships and are motivated to move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling. Lija’s goal is to offer a supportive environment where clients can examine what’s holding them back and build a path forward with courage and clarity.
Outside of her clinical work, Lija enjoys creative writing, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with her fiancée and their rescue cat, Mikey.
